Crusher conveying, pumping and workshop design for Lucara Diamond in Botswana.

TDS designed the following infrastructure at Lucara’s Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana: the crusher conveying system, the 285 Level pumping system and the TMM workshop.

The pump station transfers dirty water 700 m vertically to surface.

Crusher conveyors (CV01, CV02 and CV03)

Scope of Work

Crusher Conveying System

  • CV01 sacrificial conveyor: ore discharged from the crusher is transported to CV02
  • CV02 loading discharge conveyor: transports ore from CV01 to Silo 1 or onto CV03
  • CV03 transfer conveyor: transfers ore from the CV02 head end to Silo 2

285 Level Pumping System

A large collection sump on 310 level with two vertical sumps between 310 level and 285 level, and the pump station on 285 level. The pump station has two banks of six SP200 positive displacement pumps.

TMM Workshop (310 Level)

  • Wash bay, service bay and repair bay with overhead crane
  • Lube storage bay and tyre storage bay
  • Welding bay
  • Offices and stores
  • Diesel dispensing bay outside the workshop area
